Once upon a time, there were fantasy books that enchanted generations throughout the decades and centuries. Whimsical books, where magic was not just a part of a complex plot involving wizards who have the power to solve the world’s problems but prefer to confine themselves in a school, hidden from all – but instead from which magic practically pours! Fairies, dragons, knights, and yes, even wizards abound in the fascinating world of The Rebecca Pendragon Trilogy: Magic Is All Around Us by esteemed author Gary Green.
Rebecca is just a normal girl in her teens whose life suddenly takes a sharp turn. Her mother passes away in mysterious circumstances, and the determination to learn more about it ends up setting the girl right into Pan’s path. The wicked god of the wilds from Greek mythology seems to be the main entity responsible for the events that lead to her mother’s death and is now looking into finishing the work by doing the same to Rebecca. But why? Her grandmother Naomi is the keeper of many secrets that prove to the incredulous, 21st-century girl that not only is magic real, but Rebecca has a pivotal place in its fantastic universe.
The Rebecca Pendragon Trilogy: Magic Is All Around Us is a very fast-paced read, but by no means rushed. It connects to the quick wits of children, teenagers, and young adults of the present, introducing many of them to their first ventures in the Camelot of old – a Camelot that has been refreshed, yet still full of all the Arthurian characters we have always loved to meet, such as Merlin and Cedric, and the locales we used to enjoy visiting in our imagination. All of it comes intertwined with real-life events, which gives the tale a very credible scenario to fit in. Let the plot twists carry you to the end of the 350 pages – you will be left with a whole beautiful yet relatable universe painted into your memory for years to come.
