Review – My Air Force Experience

by

Arthur M. Clement

Life is full of unexpected problems, and it’s not about avoiding them, but how we deal with them. In My Air Force Experience, Arthur M. Clement shows us that when things don’t go as planned, we have to keep going. After a serious car accident, he had to let go of his dream of becoming a doctor and choose a new path. Instead of giving up, he found strength in his struggles and made the best of the situation. The book covers his basic training, the challenges he faced, and his experiences working with other airmen. It’s not just about his job in the Air Force; each chapter offers something new about how teamwork, determination, and staying focused helped him in his journey.

This writing is a breeze to get through and very easy to connect with. Arthur M. Clement writes in a way that feels like he’s talking to you directly, never trying to impress with complicated language or unnecessary details. His honesty comes through in moments like when he says, “I had the best memory and I didn’t take time to write down the movement instructions…I always remembered.” This simple reflection shows how he relied on his skills without ever making a big deal out of it.

The author shares an unfiltered look at the realities of life in the Air Force, sharing stories that some may find hard to talk about. Some stories are heartwarming too—he recalls loaning $400 to a friend who was in trouble, despite being warned that he might never see the money again. Clement believed in his friend, and three weeks later, the debt was repaid in full. Clement believes that character isn’t defined by race or rank but by personal trust and friendship.

Additionally, Arthur M. Clement’s career is filled with impressive achievements, but he shares them in the same humble way that runs throughout the book. From receiving a letter from President Carter for a cost-saving suggestion, to being recognized by Brigadier General Gann as the best NCO in the Air Force, Clement’s accomplishments are a testament to his dedication. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal, led his team to win the Best in Command award twice in a row, and was promoted to Chief Master Sergeant. His success wasn’t just about personal accolades—he improved morale, earned excellent ratings, and even submitted flawless plans that left NASA dignitaries impressed. Despite these accomplishments, Clement never comes across as boastful.

The book feels real and down-to-earth. My Air Force Experience is an inspiring story about not giving up, even when life throws you off track. His story is relatable and full of important life lessons about working hard, sticking together, and staying determined. God bless America.
