Broken but Not Destroyed

by Minister Evangelist Constance Dixon

Minister Evangelist Constance Dixon offers the third installment in her series. In “Broken but Not Destroyed,” she carries the theme of what happens when one constantly faces failure, setbacks, and obstacles in their path.

As someone who has experienced countless setbacks in her life, she is an excellent counsel when it comes to giving out the best advice that any true believer of Christ should follow. As she offers a roadmap to learning to place our faith in God’s hands, she offers words of comfort and relates to familiar tales in the Bible. One story is about when the disciples have lost their faith during a storm at sea until Jesus awakens and calms the waves.

This tale is not to shame the disciples but to provide an example of what happens when we are faithless. When faced with fear, we often revert to hopelessness and restlessness. Unfortunately, this is an instinct we must constantly battle, for we are imperfect beings. Nevertheless, the author offers a handy guide on how we can take control of this fear and other aspects of our lives. When we do so, we honor God’s creation and can do more according to His will.

One of the many standout quotes from the book is, “…brokenness is not the end to all things—nor will it ever be.”

Indeed, it’s clear that the author is not only speaking from experience, but also speaking from faith. Despite our pain, sufferings, and setbacks, we must find faith and seek God’s help, for His strength is unlike our own.

This book is a beautiful guide to courage and keeping strong in the face of adversity. For anyone still unsure how to move forward, consider reading this handy guide as a way to get started. You’ll find that you are not alone in this, and with God’s help, you’ll come out stronger than ever. Take this book, reflect on its passages, and see what message the Lord has in store for you.
